The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete.
Cami Melson, a member of the York College women's basketball team, carries an impressive 3.776 grade-point average, majoring in Journalism.
In 2019-20, Cami contributed to the team's highest win total since 2009-10 and helped York return to the postseason for the first time since 2016.
Cami started in 18 of 22 games to average 6.2 rebounds, 4.5 points, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals per contest during a season that saw York produce a CUNYAC Women's Basketball Championship first-round win against Baruch College (Feb. 22, 2020).
A native of Carrollton, Georgia, Cami is a three-time Dean's List honoree, student-athlete mentor and Student Government Association (SGA) Senator. The CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll recipient previously studied at Southern Union State Community College and the University of West Georgia.
