The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete.
Veena Karupen, a member of the York College softball team, owns a strong 3.405 grade-point average as an English major.
The Queens native appeared in eight games for the Cardinals in 2019, making six starts with time at second base and outfield.
Prior to serving as Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President in 2020-21, Veena held the position of Vice President (2019-20) and Team Representative (2018-19). As a senior, Veena gained additional leadership experience in her role as CUNYAC SAAC Secretary and Student Government Association (SGA) Senator.
A Dean's List honoree and student-athlete mentor, Karupen arrived at York from Queens College.
