NEW YORK - The Baruch College Athletic Department announced Thursday that
Michael Kotrozos has decided to step down as Head Coach of the women's basketball program.
Coach Kotrozos led the Bearcats for eight seasons, including the COVID-19–canceled 2020–21 campaign, guiding the program to a CUNYAC playoff appearance every year of his tenure. Most recently, he coached Baruch to an ECAC Division III Championship runner-up finish during the 2023–24 season.
Kotrozos became the sixth head coach in the history of the Baruch College women's basketball program when he was hired prior to the 2018–19 season. He previously served as an assistant coach during the 2016–17 season and had earlier spent one year on the Baruch staff during the championship 2014–15 season, when the Bearcats won the CUNYAC title and advanced to the NCAA Second Round.
A native of Queens, Kotrozos is a 1997 graduate of Baruch College, earning a degree in Psychology. He played four seasons (1993–97) on the Baruch men's basketball team under former Head Coach and Director of Athletics Ray Rankis.
Kotrozos brought extensive coaching experience to the program, including significant time at rival Hunter College. He joined Hunter in 2007 as an assistant coach with the men's program and later worked with both the men's and women's teams from 2009 to 2011. He was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the women's team for the 2012–13 season.
His coaching résumé also includes stops at Division I Wagner College, powerhouse Christ the King Regional High School, and prominent AAU programs NY Belles and New Heights. In addition, Kotrozos served as Director of the Baruch College Kids Summer Camp in 2019.
Baruch College Athletics wishes Michael Kotrozos the very best in his future endeavors.

"I want to first thank Heather McCullough and administration for their unwavering support throughout this journey. There's always a part of you that wonders "what if" when you fall short of a championship. But when I step back, I'm filled with gratitude, for the players, my coaching staff and the chance to coach at my Alma mater. This experience has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Thank you!"
