The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete.
Alondra Mesa, a member of the Bronx Community College women's volleyball team, carries a notable 3.887 grade-point average as a Liberal Arts and Science major.
The Bronx native spent time in the lineup as a libero and defensive specialist last season. Alondra's respect and commitment to the game did not go unnoticed, earning CUNYAC's Sportsmanship Award in 2019. Mesa was also named Bronx Women's Volleyball Team MVP and the department's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Mesa's excellence in the classroom earned her a spot on the NJCAA Region XV All-Academic team, while also receiving Second Team NJCAA All-Academic recognition.
