The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete.
Vsevolod Orlov, a member of the Bronx Community College men's soccer team, owns a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, majoring in Mathematics.
A native of Moscow, Russia, Orlov was a bright spot for the Broncos athletic program, being selected the institution's Male Rookie of the Year in 2019.
Orlov was sensational in his rookie campaign, starting 11 matches in goal. The goalkeeper logged over 1,000 minutes of playing time, recording 61 saves. Orlov's strong play led the Broncos to victories over Rockland, Orange and CUNYAC foe Kingsborough. Throughout the course of the year, Orlov became a fixture, exemplifying leadership and dedication.
Off the pitch, Orlov is a NJCAA Region XV All-Academic selection and a NJCAA All-Academic First Team honoree, a citation given to a student-athlete that achieved a 4.0 GPA for the academic year. Orlov was one of only two CUNYAC student-athletes to earn the First Team distinction.
