CUNYAC/HSS Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention: Victoria Ost, York

The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete. The award is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery, the official hospital of the CUNY Athletic Conference.

Victoria Ost, a member of the York College track and field team, boasts a 3.6 grade-point average, majoring in Sociology. She was a 2019 Fall Dean's List honoree.

Ost arrived at York after studying at Hartwick College and Nassau Community College. While at Hartwick, she was a member of the Hawks' field hockey team, appearing in three games.

As a member of the York indoor track and field team this season, Ost competed in five meets, including the CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where she posted a top-10 finish in the shot put.

"Victoria's dedication to academics and athletics has paid off. She is committed to strive for greatness both on and off the field,' Track and Field Head Coach Gregory Welch said. "We are all proud of this great honor."

Ost was set to join the Cardinals' softball and outdoor track and field teams in 2020 before the cancellation of the Spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is truly an honor that contributes greatly to my student-athlete experience at York College as a member of the softball and track & field programs," Ost said. "This past year has been great, and I am thankful for this recognition."

"What a great honor to recognize Victoria with. This is a true example of rewarding all of the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to academics," Softball Head Coach Tracey Marshall said. "Victoria is the type of student-athlete coaches all wish for. Congratulations Victoria on your well-deserved recognition."
