The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete. The award is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery, the official hospital of the CUNY Athletic Conference.
Fatmir Glavatovic, a member of the York College men's volleyball team, sports a 3.1 grade-point average, majoring in Movement Science with a minor in Education. He is a two-time York College Dean's List recipient.
Glavatovic was a four-sport student-athlete during his time at York, competing two years on the men's volleyball (2019-20) and track and field teams (2018-19), while spending a season with the cross country team (2018).
"It is an honor to be recognized with this award. Being able to focus on my academics while also competing in athletics has allowed me to have a competitive mindset to always strive for success in everything that I do," Glavatovic said.
The Brooklyn native played in 24 career men's volleyball matches and participated in this year's CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. In 2018, he was the CUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Sportsmanship Award winner.
"Congratulations Fatmir! One that can balance academics and athletics while being committed to your team is a true representation of what a York student-athlete is all about," Head Coach Andre M. Titus, Jr. said.
