The City University of New York Athletic Conference annually recognizes its best and brightest student-athletes, who not only excel in athletics, but succeed in the classroom as well. Over the next few weeks, CUNYAC will recognize those who truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete. The award is presented by Hospital for Special Surgery, the official hospital of the CUNY Athletic Conference.
Andrea Guevara, a four-sport student-athlete at Queensborough Community College, boasts a 3.71 grade-point average, majoring in Digital Art and Design. Guevara is a two-time CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member and a NJCAA Region XV Academic All-Region honoree.
A native of Queens, Guevara is a member of the Tigers' cross country, swimming and indoor and outdoor track and field teams. In 2019, Andrea was a part of QCC's 4x800-meter relay team that finished eighth at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, earning All-America recognition.
"Never let fear overpower your passion. When I was younger, I was hesitant in joining a sports team, but my mom insisted that I did," Guevara said. "I joined the track team my freshman year of high school and I continued running in college. Although I am not the fastest, I am definitely passionate about the sport. Thank you, Coach O, Auzi and my mom!"
