FLUSHING, N.Y. - The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) held its latest Talk About It Tuesday’s session, hosting a webinar with a focus on inclusive and adaptive sports. Talk About It Tuesdays is programming provided by the conference to serve as educational resources for our student body across CUNY's 25 campuses.
Joining the panel included USA Paralympian
Nicky Nieves, a member of the Team USA Sitting Volleyball Team, currently training for the 2021 Summer Olympics, and
Eli Wolff, a former USA Paralympian soccer player and the current director of the companies Disability in Sport and Power of Sport.
Hosted by CUNY Inclusive Sports Advisor,
Ryan Martin, the group discussed the current climate of para-athletics. Following the discussion, the group engaged in a Q&A session, answering all questions while offering their thoughts on what they envision for the future of inclusive and adaptive sports.
The webinar is yet another effort from CUNY's Inclusive and Adaptive Sports platform, an initiative established in 2017 with the goal of providing an opportunity for 11,000 CUNY students with disabilities to participate in four sports — track and field, swimming, tennis and basketball, the first sport the University has adopted as part of this collegiate model.
Since its inception, the CUNY Athletic Conference has hosted several wheelchair basketball clinics across CUNY campuses, including a
clinic in conjunction with the New York Knick-affiliate New York Rollin’ Knicks. Prior to the cancellation of sports, CUNY was
set to join the National Wheelchair Basketball Association in the Fall.

Tuesday's broadcast is a part of several sessions hosted by the CUNY Athletic Conference. The series comprises several programs, ranging from: preparing for the upcoming season mental health, on campus support systems, recruiting and social media, among other programming topics relevant to our students amidst these unprecedented times of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
