FLUSHING, N.Y. – The City University of New York Athletic Conference held its latest Talk About It Tuesday's programming, hosting a webinar with a few of the league's most prominent female administrators, in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Talk About It Tuesdays is programming provided by the conference to serve as educational resources for our student body across CUNY's 25 campuses.
Hosted by CUNYAC Executive Director,
Zak Ivkovic, the webinar centered around CUNYAC Associate Director for Operations,
Kim Santoiemma, and John Jay Deputy Director of Athletics, Recreation and Intramurals,
Cat Alves.
Both homegrown products of CUNY, Santoiemma (Lehman '02) and Alves (Hunter '09) shared their rise from CUNY student-athletes to holding important roles within the conference. Following the discussion, the group engaged in a Q&A session, answering all questions while providing advice to women who aspire to have a career in college athletics.
The National Girls and Women in Sports Day is an annual day of observance held during the first week of February to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.
