FLUSHING. N.Y. - The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its 2024-25 Women's Swimming and Diving Postseason Awards and All-Star teams on Friday morning.
Baruch sophomore
Allyse Alexander was named the CUNYAC Women's Swimmer of the Year, while teammate
Alyssa Leal was chosen as the Rookie of the Year. Bearcat head coach
Charles Lampasso was voted the league's Coach of the Year.
John Jay's
Rina Yamamoto was named the winner of the Sportsmanship Award.
Swimmer of the Year: Allyse Alexander, Baruch
Alexander went unbeaten against CUNYAC competition during the 2024-25 season as the Bearcats claimed their first regular season title since 2013-14. During the regular season she set school and conference records in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly and qualified for the ECAC Open. Alexander, a four-time Women's Swimmer of the Week, also broke the school record in the 50 freestyle. At last weekend's conference championship Alexander broke CUNYAC Championship records in the 100 and 200 fly, winning both events, and also setting a new conference record in the 50 free. She was named the meet's Most Valuable Performer.
Rookie of the Year: Ashley Leal, Baruch
Leal, a five-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week in 2024-25, was unbeaten in individual events and relays against CUNYAC opponents during the regular season. At the conference championship Leal finished second in the 50 freestyle and was a member of two Bearcat relays that claimed gold.
Coach of the Year: Charles Lampasso, Baruch
Lampasso earned women's Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in his career. He guided the Bearcats to a unbeaten CUNYAC regular season record and the program's first regular season championship since 2013-14. Baruch finished second at last weekend's conference championship.
