FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2023) - The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced its annual preseason poll for the 2023-24 men’s swimming & diving season, and Baruch was chosen as conference champions, as voted upon by the league's head coaches. Head coaches were not permitted to vote for their own program.
The 2023 Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships are scheduled for Feb. 2-4 at Lehman College.
Baruch was awarded three first-place votes as the Bearcats look to retain conference bragging rights for a sixth consecutive season. The Bearcats went 5-3 overall in dual meets, including a perfect record against conference opponents.
Lehman, last season’s runner-up, was chosen second in the pool, followed by Brooklyn and York.

CUNYAC Men’s & Swimming Preseason Swimmers to Watch
Youssef Elkhouly, Jr., Baruch - Elkhouly was arguably the best swimmer in the conference last season, earning CUNYAC Performer of the Year honors. The 2022 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Elkhouly had a strong performance at last season’s CUNYAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship, highlighted by record-setting performances in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard I.M. and his 50-yard leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay. He accumulated seven goal medals across the three days and was named the Championship’s Most Valuable Performer.
Max Bratkovsky, So., Brooklyn – Bratkovsky had a solid rookie campaign with the Bulldogs. At the conference championship, he reached the podium in the 100-back and as a member of the Brooklyn 200-free and 200-medley relay teams.
Brandon Coombs, Jr., Lehman – Coombs had a solid 2022-23 campaign for the Lightning. He earned CUNYAC All-Star status, earning silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke events at last year’s conference championship meet.
Alex Winter, Jr., York - Competing in his second season as a York's men's swimming team member, Winter was named one of 12 CUNYAC All-Stars following the 2023 CUNYAC Swimming Championships. The All-Star distinction is York's first since 2008-09 when Andrew Phillips claimed the honor as a freshman. Winter was also voted as the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award winner, York's second since 2019-20 (Jeremy Sapeg). Generating a total of 16 points at the 2023 championship meet, Winter shattered his season-best time by 1.78 to place second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.10. Winter also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (56.28) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (25.96) events at the year-end meet.
