Lehman Men Win Second Consecutive CUNYAC/USS Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Day One Recap

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 12, 2022) –
For a second consecutive season, the Lehman College men’s track and field team is CUNYAC/USS Outdoor Track & Field Champions! Action resumed at Icahn Stadium Thursday morning with field events after the meet was halted last weekend due to inclement weather.
 
Lehman finished atop the leaderboard outright with 202 points, followed by CCNY with 180 points. The Lightning’s victory snapped a streak of nine consecutive conference titles for the Beavers. It’s Lehman’s fourth conference title in program history and the first time they’ve won the league championship outright since 2009.
 
Lehman’s Kuron Williams picked up two more gold medals on the afternoon. The senior claimed the top spot in the hammer with a toss of 33.15m and later won gold in the discus with a toss of 33.34m. Across the two-day meet, Williams accumulated a meet-best 53 points. For his efforts, he was named the meet’s Most Valuable Performer.
 
Habibu Gado turned in another strong performance, taking gold in the high jump with a leap of 1.73m. He finished the weekend with a total of 51 individual points.
 
York’s Hakeem Griffiths took home gold in the triple jump, recording a solid leap of 13.16m. Lehman claimed two of the top three spots, as Obinna Njoku II (12.15m) and Keyshawn Peterson (11.88m) finished second and third, respectively.
 
Lehman’s Kennedy Ebeziem took gold in the discus with a toss of 32.81m, while teammate Kenneth Davis took silver in the hammer and bronze in the discus (29.73m).
