LA CROSSE, Wisc.
- Medgar Evers College outdoor track and field sensation Reco Griffith competed at the NCAA Division III Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin over the past three days, and the standout will be bringing a very sacred token of success with him back to the Carroll Street Campus, as the sophomore achieved All-American status in the 100-Meter Dash event, registering times of 10.41 during Friday's preliminaries (third place), and 10.37 in Saturday's finals (sixth place). Following the conclusion of Saturday's action, Head Coach Hugh Reid expressed just how proud he is of his star dasher.

"I am extremely proud of what Reco was able to accomplish this weekend," Reid said. "He made a statement that he is a force to be reckoned with — not just locally, but nationally. He represented himself, his family, the team, Medgar Evers College, CUNYAC, AARTFC, and Barbados with tremendous pride, dignity, and class. The valuable experience and exposure he gained this weekend will only fuel and propel him to even greater heights in the future. Reco deserves all of our respect and congratulations. I am truly over the moon about what his future holds. Competitors and their families came up to him throughout the meet to tell him they were rooting for him and how incredible of a talent he is. This was truly an amazing accomplishment for him, and the best is still yet to come."

Coming into the NCAA Championships ranked 12th in the nation, Griffith rose to the occasion and finished 6th overall, earning All-American honors in the process.

Griffith is the first CUNYAC men's outdoor track and field All-American since Thierry Diessongo earned the honor in the 100-meter dash in 2013 after finishing fifth.

Griffith was one of the most dominant outdoor track and field competitors in the country this season. He captured the 100 (10.48) and 200 (21.23) meter dash events with conference-championship record performances at the CUNYAC championships back on May 2, and followed that up by being voted the conference's Track Athlete of the Year, and an All-Conference Honoree. Later, he earned USTFCCCA Metro All-Region Honors in the 100-Meter Dash, 200-Meter Dash, and 4x100 Meter Relay events, and then capped his outstanding 2026 campaign by earning All-American glory in the 100-Meter Dash at the NCAA Division III Championships.

The last time Medgar Evers College produced an All-American in any sport was in 2019, seven years ago, when Aleigh McIntyre did it for MEC's Indoor Track & Field team, as he qualified for the NCAA Division III finals in the 60-Meter Dash event, finishing seventh.
