NEW YORK – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its All-Conference awards and team for the 2026 men’s outdoor track & field season Tuesday morning.
Medgar Evers' Reco Griffith was voted the conference's Track Athlete of the Year, while teammate Omari Hinds was named the Field Athlete of the Year. Cougars' rookie Pharell Fowler was voted Rookie of the Year, while MEC head coach Hugh Reid was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. The Cougars' Ahmed Toure was named the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
Track Athlete of the Year: Reco Griffith, Medgar Evers
Griffith once again dominated the sprints during the outdoor season for the Cougars, capturing the 100 (10.48) and 200 (21.23) with conference-championship record performances at last weekend's championship. A three-time Track Athlete of the Week, Griffith currently sits No. 8 nationally in Division III in the 100 (10.36) and No. 18 in the 200 (21.13).
Field Athlete of the Year: Omari Hinds, Medgar Evers
Hinds, the Field Athlete of the Year for the second straight year, captured three jumps events for Medgar Evers en route to Championship MVP honors last week, taking first in the high jump (1.78m), triple jump (12.22m) and long jump (6.23m). He was ranked first in all three events in the conference during the season with top marks of 1.95m (high jump), long jump (6.63m) and triple jump (12.57m) while being named Field Athlete of the Week five times.
Rookie of the Year: Pharell Fowler, Medgar Evers
A four-time conference Rookie of the Week, Fowler won the 400 at the conference championship with a personal-best 49.68 second effort. During the season he was first in the 400, second in the 100 (10.76) and in the 200 (21.48).
Coach of the Year: Hugh Reid, Medgar Evers
Reid was named men's outdoor Coach of the Year for the sixth straight season and third in a row at Medgar Evers and 10th time overall. He guided the Cougars to a runner-up finish at last weekend's championship and MEC had a total of nine top marks in 2026.
