CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
Taylor Kerr-Haiduk, Hunter College

Taylor Kerr-Haiduk has been named the CUNYAC Player of the Week for the week of 8/30-9/04. Kerr-Haiduk led the Hawks to one win last week, averaging 3.53 kills per set in four matches. In the first match of the NYU Invite Kerr-Haiduk notched 15 kills against Ramapo. She recorded a weekend-high of 21 kills in the win over Keene St. hours later. The sophomore also had a fantastic defensive weekend, averaging 3.18 digs per set and tallied 17 digs twice during the tournament.

CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Libero of the Week

Haley Trunkett has been named the CUNYAC Libero of the Week for the week of 8/30-9/04. Trunkett led the Hawks defensively at the NYU Invitational, averaging 3.88 digs per set in the four matches. The sophomore recorded 16 digs against Ramapo before tallying a weekend-high of 20 digs in the victory over Keene St. She finished the tournament with 19 digs against Rivier.

CUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Setter/Freshman/Kings Park, NY/Kings Park

Stephanie Cornwell has been named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the week of 8/30-9/04.  In her first college volleyball action, Cornwell, a true freshman, recorded 69 assists and 24 digs over the span of three matches at the Desales University tournament. Against Rutgers-Newark, Cornwell registered a career-high 33 in a five-set thrilling win.

The CCNY Women's Volleyball team started off their 2016 campaign this past at Sarah Lawrence. The team lost to Sarah Lawrence 0-3 (25-16,25-21, 25-16).Junior Veralucia Quispe led the team with five kills and 18 digs. Junior Angela Ubanwa posted six kills. Sophomore Lesly Polanco had 12 digs and a kill and Brigitte Bozer put seven digs. Freshmen Tenaya Hawkins had a team high 15 assists.

The Bloodhounds went 0-2 for the week. John Jay fell to Manhattanville College, 3-0, and William Paterson, 3-0. The Bloodhounds enter CUNYAC play this week with matches against Brooklyn and Hunter.

The Lightning started the season by falling to William Paterson in three straight but two days later jumped into CUNYAC play with a resounding 3-0 victory over Medgar Evers. Lehman will host Maritime on Thursday night before hosting a CUNYAC tri-match on Saturday.

York lost all three of its matches last weekend at the Elms College Blazer Invitational. Despite the losses, York's Shauncia McClendon shined, recording 15 kills, 12 digs and three aces in a four-set loss to Cobleskill. This week, York hosts Yeshiva on Thursday and competes in a CUNYAC tri-match on Saturday.

Baruch finished the first week of the season by going 2-2 at the Desales University tournament. In the first match, the Bearcats rallied from 14-11 down to win the fifth and decisive set 16-11. Following a loss to Washington College(md), Baruch responded by sweeping their third match 3-0 against Gwynedd Mercy University.

The Brooklyn women's volleyball opened the 2016 season with a pair of defeats at the Penn State Abington tri-match on Friday. In their season opener, the Bulldogs lost to King 3-0 and closed the evening with a 3-1 loss to Penn State Abington.
