NEW YORK - The 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference women's volleyball All-Conference awards and teams were announced Friday morning.
John Jay College sophomore
Jadyn Orava was voted the league's Player of the Year, while Bloodhound teammate
Madison Mullan was selected as Rookie of the Year. CCNY junior
Rosalynda Russo was tabbed as Libero of the Year, while John Jay head coach
Austin Voges earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season. CCNY's
Ivanna Zamora Sanchez was the choice for the Sportsmanship Award.
Player of the Year: Jadyn Orava, John Jay (So., OH, Gilbert, Ariz.)
Orava is the third straight Bloodhound to earn Player of the Year honors after Josanne Lewis was the recipient in 2023 and 2024.
An eight-time CUNYAC Player of the Week and two-time AVCA Division III Player of the Week, Orava has recorded 465 kills on .302 hitting. She ranks among the national leaders in total kills, kills per set and total points as she led the Bloodhounds to their first-ever conference regular season title. Orava has also notched 56 service aces, 215 digs and 20 total blocks.
Rookie of the Year: Madison Mullan, John Jay (Fr., MB, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.)
With Mullan earning Rookie of the Year, John Jay has now won three straight Rookie of the Year awards, with Hailey Waugaman winning in 2023 and Julia Stuart in 2024.
Mullan has totaled 207 kills on .259 hitting while appearing in all 28 matches to date, ranking second in the conference in hitting percentage behind Orava. She also ranks third in the CUNYAC in total blocks with 70 and third in blocks per set. Mullan's 61 service aces rank second on John Jay, which currently leads Division III in service aces per set.
Libero of the Year: Rosalynda Russo, CCNY (Jr., L, Bay Shore, N.Y.)
Russo is the first Libero of the Year for the Beavers since Leslie Auquilla in 2007.
Russo racked up 380 total digs (4.63 d/s) for CCNY, ranking first in the conference in digs per set and second in total digs. She racked up double-digit digs in all but two matches and hd at least 20 digs on five occasions. She also contributed 19 service aces for the Beavers.
Coach of the Year: Austin Voges, John Jay
Voges earns Coach of the Year accolades for the second straight season after guiding the Bloodhounds to their first-ever CUNYAC regular season title with a 7-0 record. The Bloodhounds are currently 22-6 overall and making their second straight championship match appearance Friday night. John Jay had a total of four players recognized with All-Conference honors, tops in the conference.
