CUNYAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Julia Sung, Baruch
Senior/Flushing, NY/Bronx Science
Julia Sung has been named the CUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for the week of 11/3-11/10. In three meets this week, the senior dominated the field with first place finishes in nice events. Against William Paterson, the flushing native took first in the 200 yard free relay, 200 yard individual medley, and 100 yard breaststroke with times of 1:42.42, 2:16.80, and 1:09.88. In a 150-89 win over conference opponent College of Staten Island, Sung again had three first place finishes in the 200 yard medley relay, 1,000 yard freestyle, and the 100 yard breaststroke with times of 1:56.66, 12:12.53, and 1:10.65. In the Bearcats final meet of the week versus Division I Manhattan College, the fourth year swimmer finished ahead of the competition in three events as well. In the 200 meter medley relay and 200 meter individual medley, Sung finished in 2:12.03 and 2:33.26 but her biggest finish of the day was the 100 meter breaststroke where she broke Baruch’s school record with 1:18.63.
CUNYAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week
Daniela Marquez, Baruch
Freshman/Kew Gardens, NY/St. Francis Prep
Daniela Marquez has been named the CUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week for the week of 11/3-11/10. The first year swimmer had an outstanding start to her collegiate swimming career with two first place and one second place finishes in the Bearcats meet against William Paterson. The freshman competed in the 200 yard medley relay, 50 yard freestyle, and 100 yard freestyle in times of 2:03.15, 27.20, and 58.87. Against conference opponent CSI, the Kew Gardens native finished ahead of the pack in all three events she swam in. Versus the Dolphins, Marquez swam the 200 yard medley relay, 50 yard freestyle, and the 100 yard freestyle in the times of 1:56.66, 27.11, and 58.32. In their following meet against Manhattan College, a Division I school, the new comer had an outstanding meet with a first place finish in the 200 meter medley relay with a time of 2:12.03, a second place finish in the 50 meter freestyle and a second place finish in the 100 meter freestyle in 1:04.26, a new Baruch freshman record time.

The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming team has been busy in the first weeks of the 2013-2014 season, as the Bulldogs are off to a 1-2 start. BC also posted a third place finish (six teams) at the Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival.

After two meets, the Lightning remain unbeaten, with one win and one tie. In the season opener against CMSV, the final relay - the 200- free relay, finished in first place, drawing the final score at 87-87. Against SJC, Lehman held off a challenge from St. Joseph's of Brooklyn for the first win of the year, 122-85.
