CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Priscilla Arana garners the CUNYAC/Applebee’s swimming athlete of the week for the third time this season after leading her team on senior night to non-conference victories against St. Joseph’s and Maritime. The senior registered three top place finishes helping her team clinch the 70-25 victory over Maritime and 58-37 win against St. Josephs’ (Jan. 19). Arana got registered her first top place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:15.90. She went on to touch the wall first in the 800 freestyle with a time of 10:48.57 and 100 breaststroke in 1:21.98. These two victories set the Bearcats’ new team record for most wins in a regular season with 10 (previous record was 9 wins).
CUNYAC/Applebee’s Women’s Swimming Rookie of the Week
DENISSE DURAN-LLANO, Baruch

Setting a new school record and helping the team secure two big victories in the week, Denisse Duran-Llano is named CUNYAC/Applebee’s rookie of the week. The freshman garnered the first place victory In the 200 medley relay along with player of the week Arana and teammates Julia Sung and Sally Lim by a nine second margin, finishing with a time of 2:15.90. In the 200 freestyle the rookie touched the wall at 2:28.75 placing another first place finish under her belt. Duran-Llano finished the dual meet breaking the Baruch school record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:57.84 and another first place win. The Bearcats finish their regular season with 10 wins as they head to the CUNYAC Championships hosted by Lehman College in the Bronx.
