BRONX, N.Y. — Lehman College has named Coach Joe Curto as the Head Baseball Coach of the Lightning baseball program. This marks Coach Curto's first collegiate head coaching position.

"We are tremendously excited for Joe Curto to lead our baseball program," said Director of Athletics and APEX Facilities Ryan McCarthy. "Joe brings excellent experience at a plethora or levels, including local Division III programs that will translate well to our program's success."

"The opportunity to lead the Lehman College baseball program is incredibly meaningful to me," commented Curto. "Lehman has a rich history of creating opportunities for upward mobility and changing lives through education and athletics, and I'm honored to become part of that tradition. I'm excited to help lead the program as it transitions into a new athletic conference while building a culture centered on accountability, student-athlete development, and competitive excellence."

Coach Curto brings coaching experience from the NCAA Division III, NJCAA, high school, college club, and summer collegiate levels. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Coach at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he worked with the outfielders and served as the program's first base coach. Prior to Mount Saint Vincent, Coach Curto coached the infielders at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and worked with the pitching staff at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Curto served as the head varsity baseball coach at the United Nations International School and Dream Charter School, where he built competitive programs while mentoring student-athletes on and off the field. He also currently serves as the head coach of the DiMaggio Bombers of the Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball League and helped establish the Iona University Club Baseball program.

A former collegiate student-athlete, Curto pitched at Kingsborough Community College before completing his playing career at The City College of New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from The City College of New York, and added Master's degrees from both Queens College, and SUNY Albany.

Curto went on to say, "My goal is to help our student-athletes succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in life. I want to thank my wife, Meagan, for her unwavering support throughout this journey, and I would like to thank the Lehman College search committee for entrusting me with this opportunity. I can't wait to get started."

A proud CUNY alumnus, Curto is honored to lead the Lehman College baseball program as it begins an exciting new chapter.
