ABCA All-Region Teams
NEW YORK – A pair of CUNY Athletic Conference baseball players were recently named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region team announced earlier this week. Baruch senior Roy Longarzo and CCNY sophomore Demetri Ziorgiannis were each selected to the Region IV Third Team.
Longarzo, the CUNYAC Player of the Year, led the Bearcats to their second straight CUNYAC championship this spring. He batted .412 with a home run and 19 runs batted in while scoring a team-high 37 runs. He slugged .608 with eight doubles, four triples and a home run and tied for the team lead in on-base percentage at .525. Longarzo, a one-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, was also 12-15 in stolen base attempts.
Ziorgiannis, a CUNYAC All-Conference selection, led the Beavers with his .404 batting average while recording five home runs and 33 runs batted in. He slugged .625 with 11 doubles, two triples and five home runs and led CCNY with his .494 on-base percentage. A one-time conference Player of the Week, Ziorgiannis was 18-20 on stolen base attempts this season.
