D3baseball.com All-Region Team
NEW YORK – Four CUNY Athletic Conference baseball players were recently named to the D3baseball.com All-Region IV Team announced last week. Baruch's Sam Steinman was named a Second Team All-Region selection, while the Bearcats' Roy Longarzo, Joseph Bello and Benjamin Norwood were all Third Team members.
Steinman batted .434 with 43 hits, 36 runs scored, 34 RBI, and three home runs. He was also named MVP of the CUNYAC Championship Tournament for his key role in leading the Bearcats to the conference title, and was a member of the All-Conference team.
Longarzo, the CUNYAC Player of the Year, batted .412 with a home run and 19 runs batted in while scoring a team-high 37 runs. He slugged .608 with eight doubles, four triples and a home run and tied for the team lead in on-base percentage at .525. Longarzo, a one-time CUNYAC Player of the Week, was also 12-15 in stolen base attempts.
Bello recorded six saves during the season, becoming Baruch's all-time saves leader with 12 for his career. In addition to his work on the mound, Bello contributed offensively as a catcher, batting a career-best .327 with 33 hits, 34 RBI, six doubles, three triples, and two home runs.
Norwood, the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Year posted six wins in 10 appearances while striking out 47 batters across 47 innings pitched. He finished the season with a 3.83 earned run average and opponents batted .261 against the junior righthander.
