Hunter Prevails in Tight 2025-26 CUNYAC Commissioner's Cup Race

NEW YORK - Hunter College has won the 2025-26 CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Commissioner's Cup.  It marks the conference-record 14th time overall that the Hawks have claimed the Commissioner's Cup and the first since 2019-20.  They were presented with the trophy at the Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet at Terrace on the Park Thursday night.

The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in the CUNY Athletic Conference as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success during both regular season and championship competition.

For the first time in Commissioner's Cup history, there was a tie for the top spot.  Hunter and Baruch College each finished with 118.5 overall points, with Hunter earning the Commissioner's Cup based on the tiebreaker of most CUNYAC tournament championships.  The Hawks claimed a total of seven tournament titles in men's and women's cross country, women's tennis, women's swimming and diving, women's basketball, and men's and women's outdoor track and field.  Hunter was also regular season champions in women's tennis and women's swimming and diving.

The Bearcats claimed CUNYAC titles in men's swimming and diving, men's tennis and baseball.  Baruch was also the regular season champion in all three sports as well as in softball.

John Jay placed third overall with 75 points, claiming tournament titles in women's volleyball, women's soccer and softball, while winning regular season titles in women's volleyball and women's soccer. Brooklyn collected 67.5 points to come in fourth, winning regular season championships in men's soccer and women's basketball.

CCNY moved up two spots from last season to place fifth with 44 points after scoring points in nine sports and reaching four conference tournament finals.  Medgar Evers claimed championships in men's and women's indoor track and field and tallied 35 points, while Lehman was tournament champion in men's soccer and men's basketball and totaled 33 points.
