FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the first time since 2005, Kingsborough Community College was presented with the 2023-24 CUNYAC Community College Commissioner's Cup at the 37th Annual Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet at Terrace on the Park.
The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic programs in the CUNY Athletic Conference as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success during both regular season and championship competition.
The Wave finished with 73 points, claiming conference bragging rights for just the second time overall in school history and the first-time ever outright. Hostos finished second with 66 points, followed by BMCC (48).
Kingsborough soared atop the leaderboard in the spring season, claiming all 30 points in baseball with regular season and postseason championships. The Wave also scored through participation in men’s volleyball and men’s tennis.
In the spring, BMCC scored two points in men’s outdoor track & field and added another point through participation in men’s volleyball.
Queensborough finished fourth with 47 points, securing three points in men’s outdoor track & field and another point in women’s outdoor track & field.
Bronx scored 15 points in baseball, finishing as the regular season runner-up while making an appearance in the conference championship game.
