BRONX, N.Y. - Baruch College leads a tight field at the top of the 2025 CUNYAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the conclusion of day one of the meet being held at the Lehman College APEX Swimming Pool.
The Bearcats lead defending champion Hunter by three points, 72-69, through the first five events. John Jay sits third with 48 points, followed by Brooklyn (29) and Lehman (17).
Baruch took one individual victory and wins in both relay events contested on Friday. Kaetlyn Chavez took first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:02.90. The 200 freestyle (1:41.68) and 400 medley relay (4:10.83) teams were also victorious. The Bearcats had three other podium finishes in the individual races, with Ashley Leal finishing second in the 50 free and Kira Chen and Joyce Wong taking second and third in the 200 IM.
The Hawks, who are seeking their fifth straight CUNYAC title, were anchored by Germayne Chau's win in the 200 IM (2:16.41). Hunter took second in both relays, while Mia Chang and Parvina Makhmadalieva were 2-3 in the 500 freestyle. Cara Chang was third in the 50 free.
Miranda Perez led John Jay with her win in the 50 freestyle, checking in with a time of 25.25 seconds. The Bloodhounds placed third in both relay events.
Day two of the 2025 CUNYAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships begins at 10 am at the Lehman APEX.
