Hunter, Baruch Advance as Top Seeds in CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Championship

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Top-seeded Hunter College and No. 2 seed Baruch College advanced to the final of the 2025 CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Championship with semifinal victories on Tuesday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Hunter dispatched No. 4 seed Lehman by a 4-0 final, while the Bearcats topped third-seeded Brooklyn 4-1.

Baruch and Hunter will meet Thursday, October 31 at 1:30 pm for the 2025 CUNYAC championship and the accompanying NCAA autobid to next spring's 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.  With inclement weather expected Thursday, the match will take place indoors. The two teams are meeting in the final for the sixth consecutive season, with Hunter winning last season 5-4.
Hunter 4, Lehman 0

The Hawks (10-0) reached their seventh straight conference final with Tuesday's win.  Hunter earned the doubles point after a forfeit by Lehman (6-7) at No. 3 doubles and a 6-0 win at first doubles by Jade Schonfeld and Isabella Tchij. Sara Novo and Sree Kolla were 6-0 winners at No. 2.

In singles play, Hunter earned a point at No. 6 singles by default.  Tchij prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Schonfeld won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 to clinch the match.
Baruch 4, Brooklyn 1

The Bearcats (8-5) won in the top two doubles flights to take a 1-0 lead.  Aishika Yadav and Lucia Herranz Sanchez posted a 6-0 win at No. 1, while Jacqueline Moreno and Maria Calvo Prado were 6-1 victors at No. 2.

Margaret Kensinger put Baruch up 2-0 with her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6, while Yadav was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1.  The Bulldogs (6-8) cut the lead to 3-1 on a Anabel Greenberg 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5, but Calvo Prado clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3.
