Top-Seeded Hunter Captures Second Straight CUNYAC Women's Tennis Title

- Top-seeded Hunter College won its second straight CUNY Athletic Conference women's tennis championship with a 4-1 win over No. 2 seed Baruch in the title match of the 2025 CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Championship Thursday afternoon indoors as the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.  The Hawks (11-0) earn the conference's automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship in the spring.

The Hawks captured their fourth title in the last six seasons and added to their conference record with their 25th crown.  Hunter and the Bearcats (8-6) met in the conference final for the sixth straight season.

Hunter sophomore Sara Novo was named Championship Most Valuable Player.  In Thursday's final, she teamed with Sree Kolla for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to help the Hawks earn the doubles point.  At No. 3 singles, she recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win for Hunter's first singles point.

At No. 1 doubles, Isabella Tchij and Jade Schoenfeld posted a 6-3 win for Hunter to clinch the doubles point.  Anna Chapko and Sara Contreras led their match at No. 3 4-1 when doubles play was halted.

Julia Aksementova put the Hawks up 3-0 with her 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4.  Baruch earned its lone point at No. 1 when Aishika Yadav remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-2, 6-2, before Contreras clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 6.

Hunter led both unfinished matches as well, with Chapko leading 7-5, 0-3 in the second set at No. 2, and Kolla holding a 6-2, 5-2 lead at No. 5.
