Hunter's Julia Aksamentova Named October CUNYAC/HSS Scholar-Athlete of the Month

NEW YORK - Hunter College junior women's tennis player Julia Aksamentova was recently named the CUNY Athletic Conference/Hospital for Special Surgery Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October, 2025.

Aksamentova excelled in October and this fall for the Hawks women's tennis team, helping Hunter win the conference regular season title as well as its second straight tournament championship.    She finished 10-0 in singles play, including 4-0 at No. 4 and 4-0 at No. 5 singles.  She also finished 4-1 in doubles competition for the Hawks in the fall.

Last season, Aksamentova was the CUNYAC Championship MVP as she clinched the title match for the Hawks and was also a First Team All-Star.  She was named to the Fall 2023-24 CUNYAC Academic Honor Roll. As a freshman in 2023 Aksamentova was named to the women's tennis Sportsmanship Team.

The Brooklyn native is a junior in the Thomas Hunter Honors Program who has excelled as a Developmental Psychology major.  Aksamentov is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and Psi Chi honor societies, and is also an ABA teacher who works with autistic children.
