FLUSHING, N.Y. – Baruch College has been chosen as the league's top team in the 2021-22 CUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Preseason Poll, announced by the conference office on Wednesday. In addition, Hunter's
Sarah Decker was voted the league's Preseason Swimmer of the Year.
Coming off a second-place finish at the 2020 CUNYAC Championships, the Bearcats headline the preseason rankings with 33 points and three first-place votes.
Hunter, the defending conference champions, was a close second with 30 points and awarded the remaining three first-place tallies.
Brooklyn was picked third with 20 points, followed by John Jay (19), Lehman (17) and York (7).
Decker was voted Preseason Swimmer of the Year following a strong rookie campaign. The 2020 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Decker led the Hawks to their first conference championship since 2017. A three-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Decker earned gold in the 500-yard freestyle along with first place finishes in the 400-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay.
The three-day 2021-22 CUNYAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for Jan. 28-30 at The Apex at Lehman College.
