MEDFORD, Mass. - The CUNY Athletic Conference champion Baruch College men's tennis team continued their historic season on Friday afternoon, defeating Moravian University, 4-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.

Playing on the neutral courts hosted by Tufts University, the Bearcats captured their seventh NCAA Tournament victory in program history — the most by any team in Baruch and CUNYAC history.

The Bearcats set the tone early by sweeping two doubles matches to secure the opening point. The tandem of Samuel Park and Ryan Huang rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Juan Mendoza and Philipp Roeder followed with a 6-3 triumph at the top spot.

The Bearcats carried that momentum into singles play and quickly closed out the match. Mendoza dominated at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory, while Joshua Bey earned a straight-set win at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Park slso earned a point after his opponent retired with Park leading 6-1, 0-0.

With the victory, the Bearcats improves to 16-3 overall, tying the program record for wins in a season originally set by the 2012 team.

The Bearcats advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will face tournament host and nationally fourth-ranked Tufts University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. indoors in Medford.
