Alexa Charles finished with nine steals, in the process setting the NCAA Division III record for career steals, as the Hawks fell to fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins 100-59 Friday night in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Friday night at Hopkins' Goldfarb Gymnasium. Hunter wraps up the season 20-8 overall, while the Blue Jays improved to 26-1.
Charles entered the game with 567 career steals and finishes her career with 576, eclipsing the previous record of 573 held by Colleen McCrave of Bates and Amanda Poppleton of Notre Dame (Md.). She also recorded 24 points, finishing fourth all-time in Division III history with 2,693 points.
Johns Hopkins led 29-11 after one quarter and held a 54-20 lead at halftime.
Hunter shot 28.2 percent (20-71) from the field and 25.9 percent (7-27) from three-point range.
Mia Fuller added 11 points and five assists.
Gianna Henriques recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and four blocks.
Johns Hopkins shot 52.6 percent (40-76) from the field and 44.0 percent (11-25) from three-point range while holding a 60-33 rebounding advantage. Lauren Knudson led the Blue Jays with 22 points, while Emily Collins added 17. Layla Henderson scored 14 points and Faith Williamson contributed 11 as Johns Hopkins totaled 32 assists and 47 bench points. The Blue Jays also finished with 33 fast-break points and 54 points in the paint.
