NEW YORK – Baruch edged out Hunter to take the top spot in the 2025 CUNY Athletic Conference women's tennis preseason coaches' poll announced Friday morning.
The Bearcats, the defending regular season champion and tournament finalist from a season ago, earned four of seven first place votes and finished with 33 points. The Hawks, who edged out Baruch 5-4 in the tournament championship last fall, picked up a pair of first place votes and finished with 29 points.
Lehman (29), Brooklyn (22) and John Jay (18) rounded out the top five. York, with one first place vote, earned 12 points, while CUNYAC newcomer Albertus Magnus garnered 10 points.
One Player to Watch for each team was also announced on Friday morning.
The 2025 CUNYAC/HSS Women's Tennis Championship is set for semifinal action on Tuesday, October 28, with the championship match slated to take place on Thursday, October 30. Both the semifinals and final will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Players to Watch
Shawna Glasgow, Albertus Magnus - A senior, Glasgow enters her second season on the Falcons. She posted a pair of singles victories last fall.
Aishika Yadav, Baruch - Yadav was named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star in 2024. She finished 16-0 in singles play last season, including 14-0 at No. 3.
Medina Kuc, Brooklyn - Kuc earned Second Team CUNYAC All-Star accolades last fall.
Sara Novo, Hunter - Novo was named a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star last season as a freshman. She finished 4-4 in singles play and 6-5 in doubles competition.
Manuela Orrego, John Jay - Orrego enters her third season with the Bloodhounds. She posted three singles wins and five doubles triumphs in 2024.
Gabriela Vargas, Lehman - The CUNYAC Rookie of the Year and a Second Team All-Star last season, Vargas finished 8-6 in singles play and also recorded four doubles wins for the Lightning.
Gabriela Pirondi, York - Pirondi enters her second season at York.
