NEW YORK - The first
CUNY Athletic Conference championships of 2025-26 are set for this Sunday, October 26 as the 2025 CUNYAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are to take place at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's 6-kilometer race will start at 9:30 am, followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 10:30 am.
Hunter is the defending champion in both men's and women's cross country. On the women's side, the Hawks won their 10th straight title in 2024 with 28 points, outdistancing John Jay who finished with 68. Baruch's
Paz Moran will be defending her individual title, as she won her second straight individual crown last season. Medgar Evers'
Kenia Irish-Bramble finished third overall in 2024, with Hunter's
Shannon Ferri placing fourth a season ago.
For the men, Hunter won its fourth straight championship in 2024, garnering a total of 38 points, followed by Baruch with 53. The Hawks'
Mateo Penafiel is the defending race winner for the men, while Baruch's
Jose Perez came in second a season ago.
The 2025 championships will feature a new, faster course, as the back hills section has been eliminated. The course will be more spectator friendly, with course maps available at
Championship Central.
