Baruch Secures Third Consecutive CUNYAC Commissioner’s Cup

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Baruch College was presented with the 2023-24 CUNYAC Senior College Commissioner's Cup at the 37th Annual Michael Steuerman Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet at Terrace on the Park.
 
The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic programs in the CUNY Athletic Conference as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success during both regular season and championship competition.
 
 
The Bearcats took the lead atop the standings following the winter campaign and never looked back, turning in a strong spring season to retain conference bragging rights for a third straight season and the 11th time in school history. Baruch finished with 136 points, followed by archrival Hunter College with 110 points and John Jay College with 80 points.

Baruch earned the full allotment of points in men’s volleyball and men’s tennis, winning both the regular season and postseason championships in each sport, respectively. The Bearcats secured an additional five points in baseball with a second-place regular season finish and captured three more points in softball with a third-place standing following the regular season.
 
For the year, Baruch won the most CUNYAC championships in 2023-24, hoisting postseason hardware six times, in addition to five regular season titles.
 
Hunter accumulated an additional 30 points during the spring season. The Hawks claimed 10 points in women’s outdoor track & field, winning their third straight conference championship. Hunter tallied 10 points apiece in men’s volleyball and softball, posting runner-up finishes in the regular season and postseason tournament in each sport, respectively.
 
John Jay had a monster spring season, scoring 36 points across three sports. The Bloodhounds earned all 20 points in softball, winning the regular season title and postseason championship for a second straight season. John Jay secured 13 points in baseball, finishing third in the regular season before going on a historic postseason run to hoist the trophy for the first time since 2007. The Bloodhounds added three more points in men’s volleyball.
 
CCNY finished in fourth-place with 48 points. The Beavers scored 15 points in baseball, winning a second straight regular season championship while making the postseason championship series for a third consecutive campaign. The program scored five points in men’s outdoor track & field with a second-place finish, while tallying three more points with a third-place championship effort in women’s outdoor track & field.
 
Brooklyn finished fifth in the standings with 43 points, scoring 10 points in men’s tennis with runner-up finishes in the regular season and postseason tournament, respectively.
 
Medgar Evers finished sixth with 35 points, including 15 points in the spring season. The Cougars secured all 10 points in men’s outdoor track & field, winning the championship trophy. The Brooklyn campus added five more points in women’s outdoor track & field, finishing second overall.
