FLUSHING, N.Y. (Mar. 20, 2024) - Following a strong winter campaign, the Baruch College Bearcats jumped atop the leaderboard in the race for the 2024 CUNYAC Commissioner’s Cup. With six more CUNYAC Championships to be contested from April through May, there’s plenty of opportunity for movement in the standings until the Commissioner’s Cup is presented on May 16, 2024, at the Michael Steuerman Annual Awards Banquet.
Baruch, the two-time defending Commissioner’s Cup champions, stands alone at the top with 94 points, scoring 53 points in the winter. The Bearcats secured all 20 points in men’s swimming & diving and men’s basketball, winning both the regular season and tournament championships. They scored 10 points in women’s swimming & diving, finishing as the runner-up in the regular season and at the conference championship meet. Baruch added three more points in women’s basketball with its third-place finish in the regular season.
Hunter is in second-place with 85 points. The Hawks claimed 20 points in women’s swimming & diving, winning both the regular season and tournament championships. The Hawks combined to score 10 points in men’s and women’s indoor track & field, earning second-place finishes at the championship meet.
John Jay scored 13 points in the winter and stand in third-place. The Bloodhounds earned 10 points in women’s basketball with runner-up performances in the regular season and the championship tournament. The West Side campus added three more points in women’s swimming & diving, finishing third in the regular season.
Brooklyn is in fourth with 33 points, scoring 20 points in women’s basketball by winning both the regular season and tournament championships. The Bulldogs also tacked on five points in men’s swimming & diving with a second-place finish in the regular season.
Right behind Brooklyn in the standings is Lehman with 32 points. The Lightning scored eight points each in men’s swimming & diving and men’s basketball, finishing third in the regular season standings and was the runner-up in the championship finale. Lehman also scored three points in men’s indoor track & field with a third-place effort at the championship meet.
CCNY ranks No. 6 in the standings with 25 points after claiming five points in men’s basketball with a second-place finish in the regular season.
Medgar Evers earned Commissioner’s Cup points through indoor track & field, winning both the men’s and women’s championship for a combined 20 points.
