CUNYAC Reveals 2024 Women’s Outdoor Track & Field All-Star Awards and Team

FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 14, 2024) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced its all-star awards and team for the 2024 women’s outdoor track & field season.
 
York’s Katryna Francois was voted CUNYAC Track Athlete of the Year, while CCNY’s Serena Warner was named CUNYAC Field Athlete of the Year. Medgar Evers’ Desireth Ramirez earned Rookie of the Year accolades, while Hunter head coach Marvin Hawkins was voted Coach of the Year.
 
Track Athlete of the Year: Katryna Francois, York
Katryna Francois was one of the top sprinters in the conference this season, owning the league’s fastest time in the 400m while owning the second-fastest time in the 200m and ranking No. 3 in the 100m. At the conference championships, she medaled in five events, including gold medal performances in the 200m and 400m races.
 
Field Athlete of the Year: Serena Warner, CCNY
Serena Warner turned in a strong outdoor campaign, finishing with the league’s top marks in the shot put, discus events and javelin throws while ranked No. 5 in the hammer. She produced a gold medal in the shot put and discus events at the conference championship while taking home bronze in the javelin in addition to top-10 finishes in the hammer and long jump.
 
Rookie of the Year: Desireth Ramirez, Medgar Evers
Desireth Ramirez was sensational in her outdoor debut, owning top-five marks in the 100m, 200m, 100mH, 400mH, high jump, long jump, and triple jump events. She was named the conference championship’s Most Valuable Performer, winning gold in the 100mH while being a part of the Cougars’ gold-medal 4x100m relay squad. In addition, she earned silver medals in the 100m and 400mH events while securing a bronze in the triple jump.
 
Coach of the Year: Marvin Hawkins, Hunter
Marvin Hawkins led Hunter to a third straight outdoor championship and the program’s ninth league title in school history.
