FLUSHING, N.Y. - Brooklyn College was voted first in the 2024-25 CUNYAC women's basketball preseason poll released recently. The Bulldogs were tabbed to win their fifth straight CUNYAC title.
The Bulldogs garnered a total of 27 points to edge Baruch (25). John Jay (24), Hunter (22) and Lehman (14) round out the top five.
Brooklyn, which won the CUNYAC title in 2020 and then in each of the last three seasons, finished 18-9 and 12-2 in conference play en route to their fourth straight title in 2023-24. The Bulldogs topped John Jay 72-54 in the CUNYAC title game.
The 2025 CUNYAC Women's Basketball Championship is set to begin with a pair of first round games on Saturday, February 22. The semifinals are set for Tuesday, February 25, with the championship game set for Thursday, February 27 at Hunter College.

CUNYAC Women's Basketball Players to Watch
Mia Castillo (Baruch) - Last season's CUNYAC Player of the Year, Castillo led NCAA Division III in scoring a season ago at 27.4 points per game. She also led the nation in steals with 5.4 per contest.
Alina Estrella (Brooklyn) - A First Team CUNYAC All-Star in 2023-24, Estrella averaged 12.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in her first season with the Bulldogs.
Kasia Morrison (CCNY) - Morrison averaged over 39 minutes per game for the Beavers last season, one of two players to appear in every game. She averaged 12.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Alexa Charles (Hunter) - Charles was a First Team CUNYAC All-Star last season. Charles averaged 24.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game for the Hawks and was a seven-time CUNYAC Player of the Week.
Ashley Zeolla (John Jay) - Zeolla was named a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star in 2023-24. She averaged 9.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Bloodhounds last season.
Emily Kennedy (Lehman) - A transfer from BMCC, Kennedy averaged 20.6 points per game last season. She is averaging 11.4 ppg through seven games thus far in 2024-25.
Sheily Quezada (Medgar Evers) - Quezada was a CUNYAC First Team All-Star last season after leading Division III in blocks per game (4.95) and averaging 16.5 points and 13.6 rebounds per game.
Alicia Gumbs (York) - Gumbs earned Second Team CUNYAC All-Star status in 2023-24. Gumbs averaged 23.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while playing 39.8 minutes per contest.
