FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 23, 2023) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is excited to reveal its end-of-year awards for the 2023 men's outdoor track & field season, as voted upon by the league's head coaches.
 
CCNY's Habibu Gado was voted Track Performer of the Year, while Lehman's Kennedy Ebeziem was named Field Performer of the Year. Lehman's Andrew Cassin was selected as Rookie of the Year, while Lightning head coach Hugh Reid was named Coach of the Year.
 
Track Performer of the Year: Habibu Gado, CCNY
Gado was one of the league's top track performers all season long. A two-time CUNYAC Track Athlete of the Week honoree, Gado was selected as the CUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Most Valuable Performer. In running events, Gado took gold in the 400m (49.93) and had the top senior college times in the 100m (11.69), 110mH (17.40) and 400mH (1:0.98) races. In addition, he took silver in the 200m (23.20) dash.
 
Field Performer of the Year: Kennedy Ebeziem, Lehman
A two-time CUNYAC Field Athlete of the Week, Ebeziem earned gold in the shot put (10.98m) and discus (36.27m) events at the conference championship meet.
 
Rookie of the Year: Andrew Cassin, Lehman
A four-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree, Cassin turned in a strong rookie campaign for the Lightning. At the conference championships, he earned gold in the javelin (42.36m) while helping Lehman's 4x100m relay team to a second-place finish.

Coach of the Year: Hugh Reid, Lehman
Reid led Lehman to a third consecutive outdoor track & field championship and the team's fifth in program history.
