FLUSHING, N.Y. (Mar. 8, 2023) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference has announced its end-of-year awards for the 2022-23 men’s indoor track & field season.
 
Hunter’s Robert Novo was voted Track Performer of the Year, while CCNY’s Habibu Gado was named Field Athlete of the Year. Lehman’s Dontay Washington was voted Rookie of the Year, while Beavers’ and coaches Gregory Page and Joey Benson received Coach of the Year recognition.  
 
Track Performer of the Year: Robert Novo, Sr., Hunter
Novo was one of the league’s top runners all season long. He owned the league’s fastest time in the 800m and ranked No. 2 in the mile. At the indoor championships, he reached the podium in both events.
 
Field Performer of the Year: Habibu Gado, Jr., CCNY
Habibu Gado turned in yet another strong season in a Beavers uniform. Gado owned the league’s top marks in the high jump and long jump events, earning gold in both at the indoor championships. Gado was named the meet’s Most Valuable Performer for a third straight season, collecting six gold medals over the course of the championship event.
 
Rookie of the Year: Dontay Washington, Fr., Lehman
Washington produced a strong rookie indoor campaign. A five-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree, he registered personal-records in three events at the indoor championships, including the 60mH, long jump and triple jump.
 
Coach of the Year: Gregory Page/Joey Benson, CCNY
The tandem of Gregory Page and Joey Benson led CCNY to an unprecedented 13th consecutive indoor championship.
