FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 18, 2022) – The City University of New York Athletic Conference and University Student Senate are excited to announce its 2022 Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Stars.

CCNY's Jules Day was named Track Performer of the Year, while Lehman's Kuron Williams was named Field Performer of the Year: The Lightning's Keyshawn Peterson and Hugh Reid was selected Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Track Performer of the Year: Jules Day, CCNY
Day had a strong performance at the championship meet, taking gold in the 800m and 1,500m races along with helping the Beavers' 4x400m relay squad to a first place showing. The senior also earned silver in the 400m.

Field Performer of the Year: Kuron Williams, Lehman
Voted the Field Performer of the Year following the indoor season, Williams turned in a strong outdoor campaign. A four-time CUNYAC Field Performer of the Week, Williams was sensational at the outdoor championships, earning gold medals in the javelin, hammer, and discus throws. Kuron also picked up silver medals in the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles and as a member of a 4x100m relay team. The senior accumulated a meet-best 53 points and was named the championship's Most Valuable Performer.

"It is an honor being awarded Field Athlete of Year for the Outdoor Season," said Williams. "I would first like to thank my coaches and teammates because without the motivation and constant push, I wouldn’t be able to compete how I did. We faced several challenges after the indoor season,  but we stayed Lehman strong and focused on being consistent; actively working on perfecting our technique. This award is a symbol to all that whatever you set your mind to can be achieved."

Rookie of the Year: Keyshawn Peterson, Lehman
Peterson was a key member to Lehman's success at the outdoor championships this season, scoring across nine events.

He earned gold in the 100m, while taking silver in the 200m and 4x100m races. Peterson also earned bronze medals in the triple jump, javelin and 4x400m relay.

"I want to accept this award on behalf of and in honor my family, my coaches and my team," said Peterson. "No one else truly knows how difficult a year this has been for me, but without adversity their is no growth. I thank all who saw fit to honor me for my Rookie of the Year, and  to honor the success of my team. As much as I have helped them, they have helped me; and we have successfully conqured every challenge  as we strengthened not only our will, but our confidence and abilities to confront future obstacles.

Coach of the Year: Hugh Reid, Lehman
Reid yet again coached the Lightning to another conference title. Under the tutelage of Reid, Lehman captured its second consecutive outdoor title and the program's fourth in school history.

"I am honored to have won the 2022 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year Award," said Reid. "This has been a season of vindication, and I have been blessed with passionate, driven and talented students-athletes who really rallied against all odds and obstacles to become champions. Our successes are a testimony to to our focus and the trust that my athletes places in me and each other."
