BMCC Leads 2019 CUNYAC Preseason Men's Soccer Poll

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2019) - Borough of Manhattan Community College has been selected as the favorite by the league’s four head coaches in the 2019 CUNYAC Community College Preseason Men’s Soccer Poll, released Wednesday.

Just two points separated the top three teams in the poll. BMCC led the way with 12 points and one first-place vote. Bronx Community College received 11 points and one first-place nod. Reigning conference champion Queensborough Community College collected 10 points and two first-place votes.

BMCC came up short in its quest for a three-peat last season, falling to Queensborough, 1-0, in the CUNYAC Championship final.

Sophomore forward Adrian Santos got the nod as the CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year. He helped the Panthers to a 7-5 mark in 2018, a No. 5 national ranking and was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, after rounding out his debut season with 12 points (4 G, 4 A) in 12 matches.

Queensborough will also rely on a returning freshman to bolster its offense. Sophomore forward Luis Flores finished with eight goals and an assist for 17 points last year and was tabbed as a CUNYAC and NJCAA Region XV All-Star for his efforts.

Additionally, Flores provided all of the offense that the Tigers needed in the CUNYAC Championship, scoring the game's only goal and earning Most Valuable Player honors in the process.

The 2019 CUNYAC Community College Men’s Soccer Championship will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth.
