January 13, 2017 (Bronx, NY) - Hostos Community College (CUNY) Men’s Basketball player Jonathan Loria set a new National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) record with 16 three-pointers in the Caimans’ 125-84 victory over Dutchess Community College on January 12.
The 16 three-pointers are the most by any men’s player in a single game in NJCAA Division 1, II and III history. The closest mark of 13 was set by Chris Weakley of Southern Union State Community College in a national tournament game in 1998.
Hostos head coach, Marquee Poole, spoke to the New York Post's Zach Braziller and had the following to say, "he was just in a zone, he found his rhythm. It was exciting. It motivated every single player on our team. His range is limitless. He's a flat-out player."
Loria, a freshman Liberal Arts student, finished the game with 53 points, 8 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds in the 41-point rout. The Hostos Men’s Basketball team improved to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
