CUNYAC/US Army ROTC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Sheridan Taylor has been named the CUNYAC/US Army ROTC  Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 1/19/15 - 1/25/15. This marks her second Player of the Week honor this season. Over two games this week, the senior averaged a double-double with 15.5 points per game and 16.5 rebounds per game. She added 3.5 steals per game between the two contests. Against Richard Stockton, a big out-of-conference opponent, the forward scored 18 points while pulling down 18 rebounds as the Bearcats edged out a 56-52 victory. The Peekskill native followed that up with a 19-point, 15-rebound effort during a 64-48 win over Lexington Avenue rival Hunter. The Bearcats have been a strong team all season with a 13-4 record overall and a perfect 9-0 conference mark.

Chrissy Heyer has been named the CUNYAC/US Army ROTC  Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of 1/19/15 - 1/25/15. This marks her first Rookie of the Week honor and breaks an eight-week streak by CSI’s Christina Pasaturo. The freshman averaged 15.5 points per game while chipping in 2.5 steals and 3.5 rebounds per contest over two conference wins. Beginning the week against CCNY, Brooklyn native scored 15 points and helped the Bulldogs win 62-47. During a 73-58 win over John Jay, the Bishop Kearney product made her first career start and racked up another 16 points while grabbing five rebounds and stealing the ball three times.

Hunter Hawks (6-13 Overall, 3-7 CUNYAC)

The Hawks went 1-2 last week earning a victory over Ramapo College then dropping two CUNYAC games to CSI and Baruch. Kristen Markoe scored 16, 14 and 18 in the Hawks three games. In the Hawks near upset of CSI, Joey Chan was outstanding going off for 21 points. This week the Hawks take on CCNY on Wednesday and John Jay on Friday.

CCNY Beavers (4-14 Overall, 2-8 CUNYAC)

CCNY went 0-2 this past week, with a 62-47 loss to Brooklyn and a 69-59 setback at York.

John Jay Bloodhounds (3-14 Overall, 3-7 CUNYAC)

The Bloodhounds went 0-3 for the week including 0-2 in the CUNYAC. Against conference opponents, John Jay fell to Lehman College, 68-57, and Brooklyn College, 73-58.

York Cardinals (6-11 Overall, 4-6 CUNYAC)

York got two CUNYAC victories last week to move up from 7th place to 5th place in the CUNYAC standings. The Cardinals defeated Medgar Evers on Wednesday and CCNY on Friday.

This week, York hosts New Rochelle on Monday (weather permitting), Baruch on Wednesday and visits Berkeley College on Friday.

Staten Island Dolphins (10-8 Overall, 7-2 CUNYAC)
Last Week (1-0 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

CSI had a light week, scoring only a single win, but it was their fifth-straight as the Dolphins improved to two games above .500 for the first time this season. This week, they host John Jay on Wednesday, before traveling to Brooklyn College on Friday.

Lehman Lighting (13-5 Overall, 7-3 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-0 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC)

This week, the Lightning went 2-0 in CUNYAC games this week, including a dominating 81-27 victory over Medgar Evers on Homecoming Day. Lehman has now won three games in a row, with all of them being conference games. The Lightning will host Brooklyn College, in a key CUNYAC game, on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Baruch Bearcats (13-4 Overall, 9-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-0 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

Baruch was 2-0 during the week stretch. They jumped out to a 19-point first half lead and held on for an impressive 56-52 road victory over Richard Stockton. They followed that performance with a 64-48 victory over rival Hunter College. The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, January 28, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC contest at York College in Jamaica, New York.

Medgar Evers Cougars (1-17 Overall, 0-10 CUNYAC)
Last Week (0-2 Overall, 0-2 CUNYAC)

The Women's Basketball team went 0-2 this week. On Wednesday, January. 21, the Cougars fell to the York College Cardinals 66-33. Then on Saturday, January. 24, the Cougars fell to the Lehman College 81-27.

Brooklyn Bulldogs (12-5 Overall, 9-1 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-0 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC)

The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team posted a 2-0 week with wins over CCNY and John Jay to improve to 9-1 overall in conference play. The Bulldogs will have a pair of key conference games this week, as Brooklyn will travel to Lehman (1/28), before hosting CSI (1/30).
