CUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Omar St. John has been named the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of 11/24-11/30. Through three games this week, the senior average 31 points with one double-double while shooting 0.421 from beyond the arc. He began the week with a bang as he tied a school record with 46 points against conference opponent Medgar Evers during an 85-80 win. The Jamaica native followed that up with 36 points and 10 rebounds during a 80-76 victory over University of Rochester.

Chimaechi Ekekeugbor has been named the CUNYAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of 11/24-11/30. The rookie continues his sweep of the accolade this season with his third straight honor. Playing against FDU-Florham, the standout notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 0.615 from the floor in the 69-48 victory.

Lehman Lighting (4-2 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

Lehman went 1-1 this week. The Lightning came from behind to defeat John Jay in the CUNY Athletic Conference opener, 67-60, on Tuesday evening, before falling short to McDaniel College, 67-56, on Sunday afternoon. Lehman will be back in CUNYAC action on Friday, on the road against Medgar Evers, at 8:00 p.m.

John Jay Bloodhounds (1-4 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

The Bloodhounds lost in their only game of the week to Lehman College, 67-60. John Jay is now 1-4 overall and 0-1 in CUNYAC.

Baruch Bearcats (2-1 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (1-0 Overall, 0-0 CUNYAC)

Baruch played one game during the week, they defeated FDU-Florham by the score of 69-48. The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, December 3, with a 7:30 pm home contest against the Ducks from the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Staten Island Dolphins (3-2 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

After a 1-2 start, CSI has won two in a row to improve to 3-2. They have now won 22 straight home games dating back to 2012-13. They are now idle until Dec. 9 when they host Baruch College.

Hunter Hawks (2-1 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

The Hawks opened up CUNYAC play Tuesday night against CSI and lost to the Dolphins 81-66. The Hawks had a balanced scoring attack with four players reaching double digits. The Hawks have two games on the schedule this week, Monday night against Manhattanville and then Friday night against rival Baruch. Friday's game is Hunter Homecoming 2014!

CCNY Beavers (3-3 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

CCNY went 0-2 this past week, with losses to Brooklyn and TCNJ. Sophomore Khalil Hamer scored 17 points while pulling down five boards against Brooklyn, then followed that up against TCNJ by leading CCNY with 25 points, with 20 coming within the first 15 minutes of the game. Hamer made six of his first eight shots against the Lions, and finished with four steals and four rebounds.

Medgar Evers Cougars (1-4 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC)

The Men's Basketball team went 0-1 for the week. On Tuesday November 25, the York College Cardinals defeated the Cougars 85-80.

York Cardinals (3-2 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)
Last Week (2-1 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

York College went 2-1 this past week, and now stand with a 3-2 overall record, 1-0 CUNYAC. The Cardinals defeated rival Medgar Evers College on the 25th, 85-80, led by Omar St. John's 46-point effort, which tied a school record. On the 29th, they defeated the University of Rochester, 80-76. On the 30th, the Cardinals fell short against Eastern Connecticut State 70-60 as they closed out the week 2-1. York will be taking on Purchase College on the 3rd of this week, and CCNY on the 5th.

Brooklyn Bulldogs (5-1 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC)

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs opened CUNYAC play this past week with a convincing 96-70 win over CCNY. Brooklyn will have a busy week coming up, as BC will take on Old Westbury (12/2), Maritime (12/4) and John Jay (12/6).
