CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week

STEVEN CONIGLIO, Baruch

Middle Blocker/Sophomore/Plainview, NY/Plainview-Bethpage

Steven Coniglio earns the first men’s volleyball player of the week for the 2012 season after totaling 63 kills, 19 blocks with a .449 hitting percentage in the start of the Bearcats’ season. The sophomore started his season notching 14 kills and four blocks in a 3-2 win over Hunter. Against Sacred Heart the middle blocker tallied 12 kills and six blocks and picked up 10 kills with .714 hitting percentage in a win over Brooklyn. The Bearcats’ men’s volleyball squad currently holds a 5-2 overall record.

 

CUNYAC/Con Edison Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week

EDNER JUNIOR GEFFARD, York

Outside Hitter/Freshman/Arcahaie, Haiti/Cetre’d Teuds Secondaires

The first CUNYAC/Con Edison Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the 2012 season goes to Edner Junior Geffard from York. The freshman had double-digit kills in four of the six games that the Cardinals have played so far. Against New Jersey City University the rookie registered seven digs and six kills in a losing effort. However he followed that performance with 20 registered kills in the win against NYU Poly. In the wins against Yeshiva University and John Jay the rookie had a hitting percentage above .500.
