The Baruch College Bearcats outlasted the Hunter College Hawks to win the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Tournament Championship in straight sets.
Despite the sweep, the match was an extremely competitive contest, as both teams battled through the entire three sets. "We do well in the clutch," CUNYAC Coach of the Year Allison Stack said moments after her Bearcats second-straight CUNYAC Tournament Championship.
Tournament MVP Sequiel Sanchez led Baruch with 13 kills in the championship match. "I didn't expect it," Sanchez said about being named MVP in his first CUNYAC Championship Tournament. "It was a great first one - the fans and the atmosphere was great. I play to win as a team, we help each other play at our best."

2010 CUNY Athletic Conference - Semifinal Round

The second-seeded Hawks flew out to a 8-0 in the first set, on their way to a 30-11 win. For the match, Hunter was led by Jeremy Gruber, who banged 12 kills on .611 hitting, while Braien Otsla added 10 kills as the Hawks hit .385 as a team. A total of nine service aces, including three by Eric Barty, paced Hunter to the 30-11, 30-23, 30-15 sweep, while Zacarias Ripoll-Cid paced the offense with 41 assists. The Hawks also teamed up for nine total blocks.
Despite 22 attack errors and a negative hitting percentage for the match, Lehman rallied to keep the second set close. Both teams battled back and forth, heading to the teens tied at 10. Marcin Polak entered the set and and led the Hawks a three-point lead. It was their largest lead until Ripoll-Cid's service at 17-15. His efforts stretch the lead to 20-16, a four-point lead that the Hawks never relinquished on their way to the 30-23 victory.
Despite staying close early in the third set, service by Ripoll-Cid once again stretched a lead to six at 12-6. It was the closest Lehman could come in the 30-15 finale.
