A freshman striker on the Panthers women’s soccer team, EVELYN MENDEZ led BMCC
to a 2-0 week with back-to-back blowouts over Westchester (8-0) and Rockland (7-0) tallying six goals and four assists. In BMCC’s first six games, the Newtown High School product scored an amazing 19 goals and passed for 10 assists, to rank in the top ten in the Nation in scoring. BMCC (3-3 overall) looks to get to the top half of the Region XV standings this week with games against Suffolk-Grant CC and Nassau CC.

Kingsborough Community College • Men’s Soccer • Freshman / Staten Island, NY

Kingsborough forward CEMIL TURAN earns his second straight Community College Athlete of the Week after scoring four goals in two CUNYAC games last week, leading the Wave to a 1-0-1 mark. He started with a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Bronx on Tuesday. Then the freshman from the outer Borough, capped the week with a goal in the final minute of the first half with the tying goal in an eventual 1-1 tie to Queensborough. KCC is currently tied atop CUNYAC at 1-1-1 with only Hostos remaining on the schedule.
