Hunter's Alexa Charles to Appear on Hoopsville Monday Night

NEW YORK - Hunter College senior women's basketball guard Alexa Charles will appear this Monday (Jan. 19) evening on Hoopsville, the national Division III basketball show produced and hosted by Dave McHugh.  Charles will appear at approximately 6:15 pm.

Charles recently became the all-time leading scorer in CUNY Athletic Conference women's basketball history.  With 2,423 career points, she ranks eighth all-time in Division III history.  This season, she leads Division III in scoring (31.4 ppg) and steals (6.6 spg).  She is also the current active leader across all three divisions of NCAA women's basketball in career scoring, ahead of South Carolina's Ta'Niya Latson (2,367) and Mickayla Perdue of Arizona (2,259).

The 2024-25 CUNYAC Co-Player of the Year, Charles has led the Hawks to a 12-5 (5-1) CUNYAC record thus far this season.

Dedicated to Division III basketball since 2000, Hoopsville is the first and longest running show dedicated to Division III basketball in the world. The show first hit the air in November of 2000 and has had a presence in Division III ever since.The 2025-26 basketball season marks the show’s 23rd season, but even when the show was not available for a few seasons it has had a presence at every Division III men’s championship weekend since 2001.

Dave McHugh is the creator and host of Hoopsville which broadcasts out of his personal studios in the Baltimore area. McHugh is also the Broadcast Director for the D3sports.com network of websites, is a director and producer, broadcaster, public address announcer,and web streaming consultant with his company dmac Productons, and works part-time for Major League Baseball.

Hoopsville features live, two-hour shows, twice a week from November through the NCAA national championships in March. The shows air on Mondays and Thursdays with On Demand archives and a podcast version available soon after the live shows go off the air.
