Baruch Men's Tennis Defeats Farmingdale, Advances to NCAA Second Round

BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the sixth time in team history, the Baruch College men's team has won an NCAA first round match!

The Bearcats this afternoon in Brunswick, Maine defeated Farmingdale State, 4-2, to advance to the second round on Friday morning to play weekend host and number-8 ranked Bowdoin College. 

Juan Paredes captured the Bearcats' fourth point for the team victory winning at third singles, 6-1, 6-4. 

The Bearcats started strong winning the first two doubles to take the early 1-0 lead.

Juan Mendoza and Paredes won at first doubles 6-2, followed by Liam Cooper and Tuna Nergizoglu winning at second doubles, 6-4.

Mendoza (#1, 6-2, 6-0) and Nergizoglu (#2, 6-1, 6-1) each quickly won their singles and that set up Paredes who won his fourth singles.

The Bearcats stay alive in the NCAA Championship Tournament and will next play Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. against Bowdoin.
