NEW YORK – The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) has announced its All-Star awards and team for the 2025 softball season.
Hunter senior Paige Witalec was tabbed the conference's Player of the Year, while John Jay sophomore Lindsay Ogden was named Pitcher of the Year. Hunter freshman Isabella Thumhart was chosen as Rookie of the Year, while Bloodhound head coach Angie Nieves was voted Coach of the Year by her peers. Michelle Mancuso of York is the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
Player of the Year: Paige Witalec, Hunter
Witalec batted .432 with three home runs and 41 runs batted in for the Hawks, who finished second in the conference standings. Her batting average ranked third in the CUNYAC, with her 41 runs driven in also good for third. Witalec's 1.078 OPS ranked fourth in the conference.
Pitcher of the Year: Lindsay Ogden, John Jay
Ogden has been dominant in the circle for the Bloodhounds, as she currently sports a 13-4 record with a 2.33 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 108.1 innings of work, while holding opponents to a .195 batting average. In three conference games Ogden posted a 0.78 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 18 innings with a 3-0 record.
Rookie of the Year: Isabella Thumhart, Hunter
Thumhart batted .328 with 10 runs batted in and 13 runs scored for the Hawks, posting an .864 OPS. She also posted five victories in the pitching circle and registered 39 strikeouts.
Coach of the Year: Angie Nieves, John Jay
Nieves guided the Bloodhounds to a perfect 10-0 record in conference play in her third season and a 30-9 overall record to date. John Jay won its third straight CUNYAC tournament title last week and the program is making its third straight NCAA appearance this weekend beginning Thursday.
